Game Changer

I had an amazing, ordinary and incredible weekend. even though things didn't go as we had planned...
The plan was to go up to the rooftop concert to see Ryan Innes and stay to attend our nephews baptism on Saturday. We were packing our bags and fighting to stay motivated and even awake. We haven't been home on the weekend for a long time and we both had crazy busy weeks and we were pretty much exhausted. We tried hard to not admit to ourselves that staying home was probably the smarter choice, but we finally gave in and prepared ourselves for a lame weekend at home.

While cleaning the house, I mentioned to Jon that I had a project I could work on...I have been commissioned to write a few songs but I try not to work on them on the weekend when its family time. but this project was different. When I told Jon about this one, he said I should try and see what I could come up with. {thank you Jon}
SO, I clicked open the articles I had been sent about this amazing Man who had passed away this last week. I cried and laughed, and felt so grateful for the opportunity to get to know this story. Its heart breaking and Inspiring and has changed my life for good.
This is where I started:
then this one:

after reading these and many more,
I sat down and said a prayer and out came this sweet and simple little tune about my friend that I never got to meet, but who I love and who I want to be just like.

Braydon, Thank you for your example.
I feel like I have had so many things backwards.
Trying to "win", I guess.
and not really appreciating everything and everyone around me.
but thanks to you, my eyes and heart have been opened.
To try harder to be who I want to be.
To never feel like I'm not good enough,
To never give up
To live with a BOOYAH.
and To Serve and Know and Love those around me.
WE are all brothers and sisters. and we should be super excited about that! I am so Thankful I got the chance to know your story.
You and Your sweet family are in my prayers,
and I will be so honored to finally meet you
"At The End."

The Salt Lake Tri Club {THANK YOU!!} paid for us to record the song, and on Saturday afternoon, I slipped over to Spiral for a few hours. Steve did an AWESOME job with the production.
Tonight was Melissa Nielsens {Braydon's Wife} Birthday. and I just got back from crashing her party. I sang her this sweet little tune, and I know that it came straight from Braydon.
Happy Birthday Melissa! It was so wonderful to meet you and your darling family!

If you would like a copy of this song, you can go to my website  www.lyndybutler.com and download it and all the proceeds will be donated to The Braydon Nielsen Booyah Memorial Fund.  Please pass it along to your friends and share this really cool message and inspiring story with your friends and loved ones. Its a total game changer and I think Braydons Story will change many more! Thanks you guys. I love you. a lot. and want to go to lunch with all of you. and give you a hug and tell you how important you are to me. I'm serious. call me. come over. or maybe lets go running.
Love, Lyndy

  1. Lyndy, this song was incredible and brought tears to my eyes as you sang it tonight at Melissa's. I loved how you were able to incorporate so much about him with racing and friendshipping into the plan of salvation and just wrap it all up so nicely with a beautiful bow :) Thank you so much!
