The Tour of Utah and Craft Lake City

Last weekend was a riot.
We left early thursday morning to be on Stage in Payson at 12:30
We got there, changed a bum, watched the motocross extravaganza, drank some orange crush, set-up, and played two mini sets of music to some of the sweetest people. Thank you family who came to support and thanks new friends who bought my CD and wore my cute buttons. {and thank you Fred the tour manager for the invitation to continue to follow the race and play music. You made me feel so welcome and I would have loved to join you all up the road, but our schedule was already packed to the brim!}

My Moms family is from Payson and I used to come to this park as a little girl to play with my cousins. I remember dancing on this stage with the white columns, singing to an imaginary audience. It really was a treat to return and sing for real live people. They were more beautiful than I imagined.
Later that night My sister Lacey, the kids and I visited our Grandpa's graveside. It was his birthday and I hadn't been to see his plot since I was in grade school. I shared a few memories with my kids. they weren't too interested. but Lacey was. and that was nice.  Thanks for Listening Lace.

I don't have a lot of memories of Grandpa Dex.
I remember getting a quarter for taking off his boots.
He made the most delicious buttery popcorn.
He let me feed the calves on his farm.
He showed me how to swing from a rope swing in the barn.
and he shared his good n plenties and black licorice with us when we rode in his van down to the farm.

The most interesting memory I have is riding on top of a mattress in the back of the van. and The mattress happened to be on top of hydrogen tanks full of Bull Semen. My Grandpa bred cattle. He once sold a cow to Germany for big bucks, and then bought my grandma a house. I really do find Dexter and Eunice's story so romantic. Love at first sight at the bus stop, He called her Sammy, working the farm. all the animals. dogs and horses, and cows, and all their fun names. and especially all the children. My mom used to tell us wild stories about her and her brothers and sisters and I love each one of them. It was a great Payson trip. I wish we could visit more.

The next morning we met the Butler Cousins at the splash pad and had a picnic in the park. It was hot! and awesome. and we needed slurpees. We stayed with Andi and Trent and had a great time. The boys love sleepovers with Belle and Bo. They are so fun.

Saturday was Craft Lake City. We saw the coolest Robot Creations, Rocko crafted a fancy hat and both boys got model cars. Uncle Matt helped them construct them while I played my music.

The people in Salt Lake were wonderful. Such a great and interested crowd. That always feels so wonderful when you can tell that people are listening with real intent.

Thank you Richard Tyler Epperson for letting me use your gear. It was so great to meet you and to listen to your tunes. Seriously, this guy is talented. check out his stuff here! It was so great to see so many friends I haven't seen in years.

Thank you darling Fackrell and Mangus Families for coming out. Thanks Amy and Kate and your cute boys and Thanks Michelle W, you were all so lovely to see under your shady trees.

Thanks Andi and Trent and Matt for coming over and riding the train and for the ice cream date afterwards. and for dinner and for showing us your cool monster truck. You are awesome.

AND thank you LACEY! I couldn't have done this weekend without you. You are an ANGEL and WE love you so stinking much.

Lastly, Thank you Sweet Children for traveling so well with your crazy momma. you are my most favorite people in the world and we have such fun together. Rocko, Im sorry you are allergic to Matts Dogs and that we couldn't stay longer. Max, Thanks for all your help with the little ones. and Thanks Gwen for sleeping at least one of the nights we were away. Here's to many more adventures together!
I love you mountains and mountains.

Hopefully next time daddy can come so the boys dan't have to go in the girls bathroom. so embarrassing!
