Durango Songwriters Expo: 152 insights to my soul

nothin' comes close, to the golden coast.

checked in to the Andersen's Pea Soup INN.

Will you stop taking pictures and decide where we can EAT!!!

At the conference, my name was spelled as LYNDY BOTLER. silly,'we are not robots.'

Pea Soup Door.
Jon Butler Heaven.

Last weekend was incredible. I am still coming down from the California-high.
I learned a lot about the music industry and more importantly, about myself as a musician...get ready for some self-reflective garble.

last Friday and Saturday,
I was surrounded by many talented musicians from across the country and felt inspired by so many of them.
I had such great feedback to the songs that i shared and Doors have been opened, but do I really want to walk through...
How serious am I about this whole endeavor. Its very exciting but its also completely overwhelming. Do I want to make this my career? career is such a funny word. reer...

I loved so much of my first Durango Songwriters Expo,
but I also didn't love some of it.
What I didn't love was my attitude.
I desperately wanted to fit in with the more experienced Durango attendees. I wanted them to know that I am not just a stay at home momma who has one little cute cheesy song. But I think I came across pretentious maybe?
or maybe I AM just a stay at home momma with one cheesy song?
I am so insecure...like whoa...
i could barf from the butterflies in my belly just typing this.

Are you an over thinker? I analyze and over think everything.
I had a little chat with Trina Harmon, who is amazing.
I cried and laughed and thought maybe what she was telling me was totally bogus but a little part of me thought it was the most beautiful truth.

The whole shabang of our chat was, Just decide what it is you really want.
Once you decide, You will get there.

So What is it that I want?
I know I want to share my songs but to what extent.

Trina said it would be easy to stay in Hurricane, Utah and sing at the Peach days festival or local coffee shop but will my soul be content?
I think it would. I think...

Hmm. we'll see. Im supposed to be getting in shape for my code breaker Music video. But its easier to eat Oreos....Its EASIER. and delicious.
Do I have what it takes to dig in and do something a little more challenging?
like sit-ups?
or the House Concert in Salt Lake I've been invited too?
I hope so.
I'll keep you posted.

As for now.
I am Playing a free show with Carlie Wall this Saturday at Wing Nutz. It starts at 8:30 and think its going to be lots of fun.

Also Playing at the RENFEST at GOGO 37 on April 2nd.
and Just got Invited to Play at the Washington County Fair. yeee-haw!

Thanks for bearing with me as i try to figure myself out. i just need to stop thinking and maybe sing a song.

You won't fall, you'll only grow....

In between Joyschool and naptime today, we squeezed in a mini recording session. Lacey couldnt make it out cuz she had important college. DANGiT!
I love Lacey's voice so much and it would have made this song sound much cooler. You'll have to come listen to us Live at the St. George Arts Festival April 22 at noon.
Here's On the Brink Demo #1. still wondering about the tempo? maybe it should be slower like in my video? I think it needs a piccolo or something bird like in the background. chimes?
hmm...we'll see where it goes...

Doors Close, Windows Open.

On Tuesday, I will be heading back into record at the Studio.
Today Ive been trying to practice but the children keep eating crayons and shampoo.
Hopefully it'll turn out alright. I am super excited cuz Lacey [my sis] is gonna come sing this Song as a sing-a-long/duet. should be cool.
Its called On the Brink.
its about being 7, 19, 28, or 35 and so on and knowing that there are always going to be amazing opportunities. You just gotta leap. and not worry about disappointment. You know your heart and you should be true to it.
This is the basis of my whole album really.
[pay no mind to my messy home, hair, and humans.]

01 The Dream (New) by Lyndy Butler

these dont have guitar or strings yet but they are on their way to being something. I recorded these with John Houston. He is an amazing person and his studio is equally amazing. I'm so grateful to have been able to work with him.

1-2-3-GERONIMO!

Hi There!
My name is Lyndy Butler and I write and sing songs.
I have been doing it for years and years and absolutely love it.
I usually just play for small crowds of family and friends at the occasional festival or coffee shop venue.
Recently, I have gotten the gumption to try something new.
I am gonna share my songs with strangers.
People outside of my sweet Southern Utah.
and hopefully we will become great friends.
Thats what I think music does. Its helps strangers become friends.

My plan with this blog is to share my rough recordings of my songs or my Youtube Videos. I might also share a story or two of how a song came to be.
I recently won a fancy prize at a song school and met some pretty kick-ay people who have inspired me to do more with my music.
Right now I am sorta in preproduction with a cool Dude named Scott Wiley.
I will put out my first Album sometime in 2011.
Wow...it makes my little heart flip.

So if you hear something you like, please pass it on and send your buds back to my site. I'd also really love it if you'd follow along.
[it will help me have more guts if I know people actually like my stuff...and not just my mom.]

And I love emails and requests too. they are happy.
Lyndybutler@hotmail.com
hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks so much.
Love, Lyndy
